Today, August 27 2011, is the completion of our first week in attacking the keyword term creative writing for the Internet on Google. Its amazing to see how our team already owns this term on Google, out of over 100,000 competing pages and in such a short time.
It just shows what results concentrated effort can produce. All we've done is write keyword-specific articles titled properly, and there we are on the first page.
Is this going to make us any money? Probably not, but the important part is that we each have started to brand ourselves as an expert on this keyword term. Someone somewhere may see one of our articles, will like what they read, and will contact us for more information. That's how you build a real business. Provide information that make the customers want to find you.
This week has been a journey of discovery for me personally. I must admit I had fallen out of the habit of writing every day - there are so many things that take your attention when running a business that its easy to lose sight of what's really important. Now I'm back on track, and am committed to creating something of value every day.
Along the way I've learned some very valuable tips from our mentor, Butch Hamilton. Like how to make any blog very keyword-specific. Like how to edit your blog template so that you are promoting only yourself and no-one else. Things I had not thought of before.
Writing articles about yourself and your business is the most important task you can accomplish to build your business. This begins the process of branding yourself. If you want people to do business with you, they first have to trust you. The more good content you have out there, the more chance that someone who is looking for what you offer is going to read the art icle and contact you for more information.
There's no way around it - you have to do the work or you will not be successful in today's Internet business world.
